In this tour you’ll reach the top of the sixth highest mountain in Europe – 2925 m. The meaning of the name came from the Turkic-arabic language – “Close to God”. During the hike the guide will share with you many legends and stories of writers, monks, kings, hunters, survivors… because Rila mountain is a part of every Bulgarian.
The guide will pick you up from your accommodation – 7.00 Transfer to Borovets – the oldest ski resort – 1.5 hours. We’ll take the gondola lift – 30 minutes. From the end station Yastrebets we’ll start our hike. The first part – to hut Musala- is easy – we’ll walk on a dirt road 1 hour. The second part we have to gain some elevation and we’ll pass the Musala lakes- 1 hour. When we reach the Ice lake and the shelter it will be the time for the third and hardest part – 40 minutes. On the top we’ll see Marichini lakes, from where Maritsa river starts, Beli Iskar dam, the peaks Irechek, Malka Musala, The Twins and many more.
We’ll return on the same way and if there is time, the guide will give you a little time to see Borovets resort. Return to your accommodation in Sofia between 19.00 and 20.00.
